About
Here’s the minute
The one I said I’d need. Six years, four companies, nine roles and a job description that keeps moving — laid out as a dashboard, because that’s how I’d look at anyone else. The numbers first, then the parts a chart can’t carry.
01Where the time went
Oct 2020 — presentThe overlap in 2023–24 is real: Maati started while I was still at RED, and ran alongside it until both ended. The gap in mid-2024 is real too.
02What the work actually is
share of timeMy estimate across the last six years, not a timesheet. Treat it as a shape, not a measurement.

Analytics is the through-line. I’ve built the reporting layer at three of the four companies here — usually because the argument was easier to win with the numbers in front of everyone.

At work
built inside a company · 5On the side
mine, evenings and weekends · 10Work projects were built inside companies and are not ventures of my own. Side projects are mine, and most of them aren’t finished — the status says which. Every one includes what I got wrong, because a project page without that is a brochure.
05Trading
Part-time, and honest about itI trade on the side — Indian equity and index options, plus XAUUSD, small size, my own money. Gold is the one I've spent the most screen time on: it trades around the clock, it reacts to macro rather than to any single company, and it punishes the habits Indian index options let you get away with. Working on the operations side of a markets company is a good cure for thinking you have an edge, and I mostly don't. I journal every position including the losses, because the losing ones are the only part anyone should find credible.
- Markets
- NSE equity and index options · XAUUSD (gold / USD)
- Size
- Part-time, own capital, small
- Method
- Journaled every position, reviewed monthly
- Why gold
- Trades nearly 24h and moves on macro, not earnings
- Not
- Advisory. No tips, no targets, not SEBI-registered.
06Off the clock
the half that isn’t workTrained as a mechanical engineer, married my girlfriend of ten years, moved from Delhi to Surat, and spend most weekends outdoors, in a car going somewhere, or several episodes deep into an anime.
Plays
Otherwise
the table tennis is not
competitive. allegedly.
- Home
- Surat since February 2025. Delhi for the ten years before that — and I did not expect to prefer Surat.
- Married
- 2025, to my girlfriend of ten years. The decision took considerably less deliberation than most of my projects.
- Trained as
- A mechanical engineer. B.Tech, 2015–2019. Every job since has been something else.
- Drives
- An XUV 3XO. The car is the excuse; the long drive is the hobby.
- Weekends
- A football or badminton game if there's one going, a trek if there's time, and a table-tennis habit I refuse to describe as competitive.
- Watching
- Anime, steadily. It is the one hobby I have never tried to make productive.
The longer version
the part a chart
can’t carry
There is a version of the jack-of-all-trades line that gets used as an apology. I’d rather use the whole thing: master of none, still better than a master of one. That’s not modesty and it’s not a boast — it’s an accurate description of what I’m for.
I work in the founder’s office at Saras, a company built for the Indian stock market, out of Surat. My title is Chief Insider Officer, which I picked, and which means whatever nobody else is currently doing. In a given month that has been pricing, positioning, a hiring loop, an analytics rebuild, a vendor negotiation, and a piece of internal software I wrote myself because buying it made no sense.
I am not the best person in that company at any one of those things. On a good week I’m the most useful, because I can carry a problem from “nobody owns this” to “this now has an owner” without needing four handoffs to do it.
None of it was planned, starting with the degree: I trained as a mechanical engineer and graduated in 2019 into a job that had nothing to do with it. I started in brand protection — tracking client products across Southeast Asian marketplaces, investigating sellers, building enforcement cases. Pure investigation work, and it taught me the one thing that transfers everywhere: how to find the pattern in a pile of ugly data. Then RED, where the remit was close to “go find what’s broken”. One of the venture models I worked on there turned into Maati, which I co-founded and ran across four jobs at once because there was no budget for four people.
I’m not an engineer and I won’t pretend otherwise. But the gap between “we need this thing” and “we can buy this thing” kept being wide, and at some point it got cheap enough to close myself. Dashboards, scrapers, small automations, a storefront. None of it beautiful. All of it shipped.
The thread that actually runs through it
If you laid my CV out and asked what connects brand-protection casework, an organic-gardening brand, ISO documentation and a founder’s office, the honest answer is: measurement. Every one of those jobs was really about getting a messy situation into a form where you could see it — a marketplace full of suspect sellers, a warehouse full of stock that wasn’t moving, a company whose processes lived in people’s heads.
That’s why I keep ending up as the person who builds the reporting. Not because I love dashboards — I’ve deleted more of my own than I’ve kept — but because an argument that’s stuck usually isn’t a disagreement about what to do. It’s two people looking at different numbers and neither of them knowing it.
How I actually work
I build the rough version first and I show it early, which some people find alarming. A bad prototype on Thursday beats a good specification in three weeks, because the prototype tells you whether the thing was worth doing and the specification only tells you what you already assumed.
I write things down, probably too much. I hand things over more slowly than I should — the honest measure of a founder’s office is how much of it you’ve successfully given away, and by that measure I’m about a year behind.
Outside work I trade a bit, mostly gold, and I read more than I write — which is the wrong ratio and the reason this site exists. I moved from Delhi to Surat in February 2025, married my girlfriend of ten years the same year, and spend most weekends on a football pitch, a trek, or a longer drive than the destination strictly justifies.
08What I’m not
stated before you find it- Real engineering
- I can get a rough version working. Anything with users who aren't me needs someone who does this properly.
- Design
- I know when a page isn't working and can't tell you how to fix it.
- Legal and accounting
- I know enough to be dangerous, and my instinct to have a go is a bug.
- Depth, generally
- Six years of range means six years not spent going deep on one thing. That's a real trade, not a humblebrag.
The record
verifiable, all of it
Saras (formerly Finosauras) · Chief Insider Officer · previously Founder's Office Associate
Feb 2025 — now · Surat
Founder's office at a company built for the Indian stock market. No fixed remit — pricing and positioning one week, a hiring loop the next, the analytics layer after that, plus whatever internal software we needed badly enough that I built it myself. Growth is the half that has moved most: I run the content engines, the indexing at scale and the backlink programme on the organic side, and the ad spend on the paid side — together they took the app past a lakh downloads. The job is being the person who picks up the thing with no owner.
Maati · Co-Founder
Sep 2023 — Jun 2024 · Noida
D2C brand helping people grow organic food at home. I did the whole unglamorous span of it: built the Shopify store and its integrations, set the strategy, ran procurement through to fulfilment, handled the books with our CA, briefed the marketing agency, and researched what to sell next. Four jobs, one head, no budget for more.
RED — Responsible Experience Design · Growth Designer · previously Research Generalist
Feb 2022 — Jun 2024 · Noida
Started as a research generalist and stayed one. Worked on business plans and new venture models — one of which became Maati — rolled out project management across the company, rebuilt the reporting in Power BI, wrote the operating manual, and sat on the review team for ISO 9001 and 27001. The remit was genuinely "go find what's broken", which suited me.

Oct 2020 — Jan 2022 · Noida
Brand protection. Tracked client products across Southeast Asian marketplaces and social platforms, investigated suspect sellers, built the enforcement cases and filed them, and reported it all monthly in Power BI. Investigation work — where I learned to find the pattern in a pile of ugly data, which turned out to be the transferable skill.

2015 — 2019
Graduated in 2019 and have not knowingly used the degree since.
